In 1915, A Syrian immigrant grapples with race-based naturalization, despite a lack of support, and fights to the Supreme Court to attain citizenship. Meanwhile, a modern day family is observed. Based on a true story.

Sofi Abou-Assali is a second generation American Syrian writer/director/producer. She earned a 2021 University of Toronto Student Engagement Award for exploring racial inequalities and mental health issues through the lens of screenwriters, and is currently serving as the Senior Editor and Vice President of the U of T film journal, Screenwriter’s Perspectives. She is a graduate of IHS International School for the Arts where she earned three diplomas including the International Baccalaureate ® and Extended Studies Diploma. Dow (2024) is her debut student-led short film.
